There was a long silence that lingered in the air after the wyverns disappeared, but the king broke that silence.
"Everyone mount up and get ready to move."
All of the knights were surprised to hear this, but they didn't question the king as they prepared for battle.
Only the king wasn't planning to fight.
The king of the Poppin Kingdom already knew that it would be impossible to save his kingdom at this point, so the only thing that he could do was take refuge.
While he wasn't certain if the four empires would do anything to help him take back his kingdom, it was a fact that he had a powerful knight order under him. At this point where there was a powerful enemy that was hiding in the shadows, any kind of power was useful.
So at the very least, they would save his life and the lives of his knights if they were to seek refuge with the four empires.
In the end, the selfish tyrant chose to save his own life instead of caring about his kingdom. After the knights all finished mounting up, the king waved his hand for them to follow him.
They headed out the south gate of the capital. To the north was where the rebels were gathering.

So there were things that he could do that others couldn't.
So the king of the Poppin Kingdom raised his spear and said, "Fire!"
As soon as he said this, there were crossbow bolts and arrows that flew into the sky. Unlike normal crossbow bolts and arrows that would have never reached the height that the wyverns were flying at, these crossbow bolts and arrows didn't seem like they would slow down as they cut through the air.
If one looked closely, they would see that there was even a faint glow around it.
Though the wyverns could see the crossbow bolts and arrows coming at them, they didn't actually do anything to stop them.
Instead, it was a wave of spells that came from the ground that suddenly intercepted these projectiles.
When the king and his knight order looked over, they found a bunch of cloaked people standing there in a line. In front of them was also a group of armoured knights that seemed like they wouldn't let them pass.
"Ah!"
There were screams that came from behind them as several of the knights seemed to have
been hit by something.
When they turned around, the king immediately ordered, "Shields up!"
Without hesitation, the knights quickly put their shields up to protect themselves.
That was because there was a wave of bullets that were coming at them.
The knights that were in the front had their shields dented from the bullets.
The knights that were in the back didn't suffer as much, but they were still pushed back by the
force of the bullets.
"What's going on here?" The king roared out in frustration.
After all, it seemed that things just kept going from bad to worse.
