Chapter 9, Shelter 3
Chapter 9, Shelter 3
"Perhaps... I could try making a healing card later!"
Lin Mo's thoughts wandered, and he began to have some initial ideas about how to build his deck.
He then shook his head, thinking it was too early to think about that now.
We haven't even seen any materials to make the healing cards yet...
Let's solve the immediate problem first!
After muttering a few complaints to himself, Lin Mo looked up and gazed ahead.
With the addition of these three, especially Fang Chuchu, a card maker with healing cards, the battle situation was instantly reversed.
Of course, the most eye-catching one at the whole event was the Mountain Spirit.
She was graceful and beautiful, like a goddess, but her attacks were extremely fierce, and every time she struck, she would either kill or seriously injure the target.
In just a few minutes, the number of mutants besieging the crowd was reduced by half.
"It's time to end this farce!"
As the number of battles increased, Lin Mo could clearly feel an invisible progress bar representing the bond value slowly rising.
His eyes sharpened, and his spiritual power surged forth, all converging into the card.
The next instant, the mountain spirit's affectionate eyes suddenly turned cold.
She raised her hands to form a hand seal, her red lips parted slightly, and a clear, melodious chant, imbued with a sense of vastness and shamanism, suddenly rang out.
"The wind rustles, the trees sigh, I think of my beloved, and only sorrow remains..."
The moment the chant ended, a sudden gust of wind swept through the entire street.
The originally fine rain instantly transformed into dense water blades, and the vegetation on both sides grew wildly into towering forests, trapping all the remaining aberrations in the arena.
The vines coiled and tightened like a giant python, and the leaves transformed into countless flying knives, slicing indiscriminately from all directions.
A series of piercing screams followed.
In just a dozen breaths, all these aberrations dissolved into the azure light, leaving only the luminous crystals of materials scattered all over the ground.
Lin Mo's face was a little pale, but he was full of excitement.
The power of the Mountain Spirit Ballad was far more terrifying than he had anticipated.
It should be noted that among the surviving aberrations, there are quite a few powerful individuals with the Black Iron III and IV stars.
They were wiped out by this one move!
This is only the strength of a four-star Black Iron level. I can't imagine how terrifying its power would be if the level were increased!
The only drawback is that it consumes a lot of spiritual energy.
With his current level of spiritual power, he can only unleash it once or twice before exhausting himself.
"My cultivation level is still too low!"
Lin Mo sighed inwardly, "It's best to use this kind of move only in crucial moments in the future."
If others knew what he was thinking at that moment, they would probably be so angry they would die!
The crowd was stunned for a moment before bursting into cheers.
The battle card masters almost collapsed, but their eyes were full of gratitude and respect as they looked at Lin Mo.
"Thank you all for saving us, otherwise we would really be in grave danger today!"
A battle card master in his early thirties, with a square face, who appeared to be the leader, stepped forward.
He cupped his hands in a respectful gesture towards Lin Mo and the other two, and spoke sincerely.
Other elderly people, women, and children also gathered around, thanking him repeatedly, their faces full of relief at surviving the ordeal.
"Don't be so polite, everyone. It's all what I should do."
Lin Mo waved his hand, "It's not safe here. Let's go to the third shelter together. There will be more people so we can look after each other."
Everyone nodded in agreement; no one wanted to stay in this dangerous place any longer.
So, Lin Mo and his two companions led the way, while several combat card masters brought up the rear. The group of people supported each other and leaned on one another as they steadily made their way toward the Third Shelter.
Along the way, they encountered several more sporadic low-level aberrations, which were all dealt with by the group together, and no further major dangers arose.
After another ten minutes or so, a brightly lit area finally appeared ahead; we had arrived at the third shelter.
This shelter looks exactly like a steel fortress standing above the city.
Thick, reinforced high walls rise from the ground, layers of dark, cold alloy concrete stacked together, forming a formidable barrier.
The walls were covered with a dense array of defensive formations.
Towering guard towers stand in a staggered pattern, their cold searchlights silently scanning the surroundings.
It is square and regular in shape, without any superfluous decoration, and every inch of its structure is designed for defense.
The massive alloy gate was firmly locked, heavy as a mountain, and the layers of outer city walls were interlocked, like a lurking steel behemoth.
There were also police officers and members of the Card Master Alliance on duty at the entrance, carefully checking every resident entering the shelter to prevent any mutants from sneaking in.
It can be described as a fortified barrier, impregnable.
The moment I saw the shelter, a strong sense of security welled up inside me.
Without hesitation, everyone quickly headed towards the entrance of the shelter.
After a rigorous identity verification process, everyone was able to enter smoothly.
The moment you step through the gate, the view opens up dramatically.
This is no ordinary shelter; it is clearly a miniature city firmly protected by high walls.
The interior space is much more spacious than I imagined, and the whole structure is built in layers according to the terrain, creating a staggered and orderly layout.
The outermost perimeter is a pedestrian walkway large enough to accommodate a dozen people walking side by side, with the ground paved with thick and sturdy special steel plates.
Energy-saving lights hung overhead, illuminating the passageway as bright as day.
Every few meters, there are also giant pillars engraved with defensive patterns, which are part of the defensive facilities.
When attacked, it can quickly expand to support the passageway and form a barrier to defend against attacks.
Further inside, there are rows of houses that look like space capsules, arranged neatly.
This is where the refugees sleep and rest.
While not exactly exquisite, it is sturdy and clean.
The streets were lined with makeshift stalls, some selling material cards obtained from hunting mutants, others with ordinary people selling dry food and drinking water, and still others with stalls specializing in card repair...
The streets were bustling with people, including ordinary citizens who had survived the disaster, truck drivers like Lin Mo, and uniformed security personnel patrolling the area.
Further inside are the outposts of the Wushan branch of the Card Master Alliance, the office of the Wushan City Public Security Bureau, and the material distribution center.
That's the core area of the shelter, and where strength is guaranteed.
Several suspended walkways are also erected above the shelter, connecting various important locations.
Every now and then, card masters would ride their vehicle cards past, leaving behind a faint afterimage of spiritual light.
Energy displays, visible everywhere, scroll through the movements of external aberrations; card technology has long been integrated into every corner of this shelter.
After entering the shelter, everyone completely relaxed.
Many people's legs went weak, and they collapsed to the ground, panting heavily.
The square-faced man stepped forward again and cupped his hands in greeting to Lin Mo and the other two:
"Everyone, if it weren't for your help today, we would all have been killed by the mutants. We are deeply grateful!"
"If you ever need anything from our Wolf Fang Squad in the future, just let us know!"
Lin Mo smiled faintly: "It was nothing, don't worry about it."
Lu Yan and Fang Chuchu shook their heads repeatedly, indicating that everyone should not worry about it.
After chatting for a while, the Wolf Fang Squad and the others said goodbye and left.
