Chapter 109: Cinder’s Evolution
Chapter 109: Cinder’s Evolution
Raiden directly under the same Banyan tree he evolved under, holding Cinder in his arms.
"Woolie, can you go and call Morgana for me? Thank you ~" Raiden called out gently, as the Emperor sheep nodded before he dashed off in the distance.
"Chirrp??" Cinder looked at Raiden in confusion. She felt something significant was about to happen.
"Don’t worry, it’s a good thing. If my guess is correct, you might heal completely today." Raiden smiled as he patted her head with a gentle touch.
Hearing this, Cinder felt astonished. Ever since a few days ago, she had started feeling better and stronger every day. She thought it was because of the environment here, but now she was guessing it wasn’t that simple.
"Chirrp chirrp!!?" What do you mean?? Can you heal me??!
Raiden didn’t reply to her; he just smiled as he patted her head, waiting for Morgana to arrive.
A few minutes later, Woolie arrived with Morgana in tow.
"Raiden?? What happened??" Morgana asked. She had already figured out how to behave with him.
Until everything was clear, she would act like a normal friend with him. Taunting won’t help their case.
"In a few seconds, I will help Cinder awaken her bloodline skill. This may be your chance to heal her completely and evolve to Silver Tier. Give it your all, okay?" Raiden spoke calmly.
"Raiden, what do you...??" Morgana’s eyes widened in surprise and shock.
She knew what awakening the bloodline skill meant. Going Nuclear.
Her family did their best and spent millions of credits to get her to nuclear. And even after all that the time period was at least a year or two. And even after all that it was not guaranteed she will reach nuclear.
She knew Raiden wasn’t simple, and he was hiding a bit of a secret, but she did not know it was this big.
She glanced at him with complicated emotions in her eyes.
"Alright. I’m ready."
’I won’t betray your trust.’
"That’s good. Let’s get started." Raiden had decided to share his secret with her. He didn’t know if his decision was good or bad, but sometimes not all decisions were made using logic.
He put Cinder down on the ground and put his hand on top of her head.
"Upgrade."
{Ding!! Upgrading Cinder, The Azure Phoenix potential from S to EX (90/90)}
A storm of azure-colored fire erupted from Cinder’s body as it started undergoing a change.
Her life force got stronger and stronger as the wave of intimidation started rolling off her body.
Soon she reverted back to her true size of three meters before growing bigger and bigger.
{Upgrade successful!! Unlocked Exclusive Bloodline Skill: Rebirth!!}
{Rebirth: Causes the body to burst into flames and go under a rebirth, healing all injuries and resurrecting, stronger than before. Can only do once every level}
Seeing the skill description, Raiden didn’t waste any time, shouting towards Morgana.
"Hurry up and use the bloodline skill!! It’s your best chance to evolve!!"
Morgana didn’t waste any time after hearing his words, sitting down on the spot, tapping into the bond between her and Cinder.
"You heard him, Cinder!! Raiden and Woolie gave us a second chance at life!! Let’s make it count!! Rebirth and Evolve!!!"
"CHIRRRPP~"
An even more intense glow of flames burst out of Cinder’s body, creating a dome of fire in the air, driving back everyone else but Morgana, whose body also started shining with golden flames.
"Woolie!!" Woolie stared at the scene with starry eyes.
He could feel his little sister grow stronger and stronger. He wanted her to grow even stronger so she could fight him once again.
Just as the trio was looking at the scene in wonder, Sylvia and Ruby arrived after hearing all the commotion.
They looked at the dome of fire in astonishment.
"Is shee-?"
"Yes. She is undergoing evolution."
Hearing this, both of them fell silent, looking at the scene in front of them with serious expressions
CHRR-IRRP~!!!
A cry of Phoenix sounded in the air, like it was coming from the primal times, echoing in everyone’s ears.
BOOM!!
A second later, a pillar of fire burst into existence, directly impacting the clouds, dividing them into two!!
The pillar of fire didn’t stop. It kept climbing until the clouds above split apart like someone had drawn a line through them, leaving a clean corridor of open sky straight up to the stars.
Then silence.
The dome of flames pulled back slowly, like a tide receding from shore, until there was nothing left but a shimmer of heat in the air and the smell of something ancient that had no name in any modern language.
Morgana was on her knees in the centre of it all, golden light fading from her skin, breathing hard, eyes still closed.
Nobody moved. Nobody spoke.
Woolie had gone completely still, staring at the scene in wonder. Sylvia’s hand found Ruby’s tail and held it without thinking. Even Neva, who had never once stayed quiet for longer than thirty seconds, sat on top of Raiden’s head without making a sound as she looked at the centre with wide eyes.
Then the smoke shifted.
She stepped out of it.
Grown from her small form, she stood 10 meters tall from beak to tail, and every inch of her was crafted with such exquisite detail that normal had no vocabulary for. Her feathers were the colour of shallow ocean water held up to sunlight, that impossible shade between blue and green that exists only for a second before it becomes one or the other. Where the light hit her wings directly, they burned almost white. Where they curved into shadow, they deepened into something close to indigo, rich and bottomless.
When she stretched her wings fully, just once, just to feel it, the wind knocked Sylvia sideways and stripped leaves off the nearest three trees.
The crown rose from her head in a fan of feathers, black at the roots bleeding into gold so bright it looked molten. Her tail feathers dragged behind her as she walked, each tip burning with a small quiet flame, azure shading into gold, completely calm, like a candle in a windless room.
She turned and looked at Morgana, who was also looking at her with a smile and tears in her eyes.
Cinder lowered her head until her beak was level with Morgana’s face. Morgana pressed her forehead against Cinder’s beak and didn’t say anything.
Raiden glanced at Woolie, who was staring at Cinder with the expression he reserved for things he had decided to fight. Woolie caught him looking and turned away with a loud "Woolie!!" that communicated everything without saying anything.
"Shaa~" Neva said softly, from somewhere in Raiden’s hair.
Cinder’s new wing extended fully beside the other one. Perfect. Whole. No scar, no gap, no trace that it had ever been anything else.
"You are okay, you are finally, okay, Cinder!! I am glad!! I am so glad!!!" Morgana hugged Cinder tightly as bittersweet tears kept flowing down her face.
"Chirrp~!"
Looking at the emotional scene in front of him, Raiden didn’t stay any longer, walking away with light steps, a smile playing at the corners of his face.
He had done his duty. Now, it was time for farewell.
