Chapter 125, Second Member Olivia
Li Ang composed himself, walked to the bedside, and gently called out:
"Miss Olivia? Miss Olivia?"
The girl didn't react at all; she just turned over and wrapped the blanket around herself even tighter.
Li Ang had no choice but to increase the volume:
"Miss Olivia, I am Li Ang, and I have come on Professor Diana's behalf—"
Before he could finish speaking, he was met with a somewhat rounded arm emerging from under the covers.
He waved his arms wildly in the air a few times, as if trying to drive something away.
Then, with her delicate white hands, she suddenly pulled the blanket over her head and continued to sleep soundly.
Li Ang's lips twitched slightly. It seemed that this young lady had woken up, but she didn't want to pay any attention to him.
He looked around, his gaze falling on the gleaming gold coins, and a plan suddenly came to mind.
He deliberately quickened his pace, walked to a pile of gold coins, then took out his money bag from his pocket, exaggeratedly bent down, scooped up a handful of gold coins with both hands, and jingled as he stuffed them into his money bag.
Just as the gold coin fell into the purse with a crisp clinking sound.
"Aww!"
With a roar, the ball of flesh that had been curled up in bed suddenly sprang up.
Olivia, with her messy red hair, glared at Li Ang with sleepy but angry eyes. Her round cheeks puffed up with anger, and her fat jiggled.
Her red, vertical pupils stared intently at the unfamiliar Li Ang before she asked:
"Who are you? What do you want? Are you a thief trying to steal the treasure of the great red dragon Olivia?"
Seeing this, Li Ang calmly put the gold coin back in its place, as if nothing had happened, clapped his hands, and smiled:
"Miss Olivia, you're awake? Hello, I'm Li Ang, the captain of Special Operations Team One. You must have heard what was said outside the door, right? Your mother, Professor Dinah, wants you to join my team."
Olivia blinked her still slightly blurry eyes and mumbled something:
"Special Operations Team?—" Her confusion was fleeting; she quickly refocused on what had just happened, pointing a finger at Li Ang and demanding:
"Wait, were you just stealing my gold coins? How dare you!"
This was clearly the first time she had encountered someone who dared to steal openly in a dragon's lair.
Li Ang smiled, showing no sign of guilt, and instead retorted confidently:
"Miss Olivia, that's not right. As far as I know, these gold coins belong to your mother, Professor Dinah, not you."
Of course, Li Ang didn't know the truth. He was just testing and bluffing. After all, it was hard to believe that this seemingly inactive girl could earn such a huge fortune on her own.
Upon hearing this, Olivia retorted loudly and matter-of-factly, "What's mine is mine, what's the difference?"
Li Ang shook his head, a look of regret on his face, and began to improvise, making up stories:
"Ms. Olivia, I have some unfortunate news for you. Your mother said that if you don't join my side this time, she will immediately send someone to take away all the gold coins and treasures in this room."
Not a single penny will be left for you.
"What?" Olivia's anger was instantly replaced by terror, and she shook her head violently.
"Impossible, Mother! How could this be? — You must be lying to me!"
Seeing this, Li Ang pressed his advantage, stepping forward and making a move to grab her wrist, his tone forceful:
"Whether it's a lie or not, let's go ask Professor Diana in person right now. Let's go."
Li Ang tried to overwhelm her with his presence, making her believe his fabricated story, and betting that Professor Diana would cooperate with him in this charade so that her daughter could get back on the right track.
However, Li Ang miscalculated. He clearly underestimated the dragons. Even the seemingly weak dragons were far more powerful than humans.
He reached out to pull Olivia, who instinctively pulled her hand back as if startled. A force far beyond Li Ang's imagination came from his hand, which lifted him up and made him fall forward, landing headfirst in Olivia's soft, fluffy down comforter.
Li Ang lay sprawled on Olivia's bed, a scent mingled with the fragrance of a young girl and a faint smell of sulfur lingering around his nose.
Fortunately, the soft down comforter cushioned his fall, and Li Ang was not injured. He propped himself up, a hint of embarrassment on his face.
He stood up, straightened his robe, and decided to change tactics. So he pretended to leave, while continuing to intensify his threats:
"Alright, since Miss Olivia isn't willing to join my team, I'll go and report this to Professor Diana. Not only will these gold coins be taken away, but I've also heard that the professor plans to expel you from the wizard's tower."
If I leave you to fend for yourself, you'll probably only be able to scavenge for food outside—"
"Wait!" Olivia hurriedly called out to Li Ang, who had already reached the door.
Li Ang was secretly pleased, stopped, turned around, and kept his face serious.
"What is it, Miss Olivia? Are you asking me for a bowl so you can beg?"
Olivia's round face was filled with struggle and fear. She looked at the glittering treasure around her and imagined the miserable scene of being homeless and starving. In the end, the fear of losing the treasure and the comfortable life overwhelmed her resistance to joining the group.
She pouted and nodded reluctantly, her voice barely audible.
"Don't—don't tell Mother—I—I'll join your team, okay—?"
Li Ang breathed a sigh of relief. He decided to stop while he was ahead, after all, that last moment had made him realize the truth.
Even in human form, the girl before him was still a true dragon, capable of making him fly in a physical sense at any moment.
He took out a blank application form and handed it over:
"Very well, Miss Olivia, please write your name here."
Olivia took the form, pursed her lips, and muttered under her breath:
"I know that, it's not like I haven't joined before—"
She picked up a quill pen from the table and neatly wrote the name "Olivia" in the name column of the application form.
Li Ang knew that dragons usually only had given names and no surnames, because every pure-blooded dragon considered itself a unique being.
After saying goodbye to Olivia, Li Ang took the application form with the ink still wet and bearing Olivia's name and went straight back to Professor Diana's office.
The door opened again, and Professor Diana remained seated behind her enormous desk, seemingly unmoved.
When she saw Li Ang return and the subtle expression on his face, a genuine surprise flashed in her crimson vertical pupils.
"So fast?" Her voice was still low, but the surprise was obvious.
