Chapter 67 Joining the Enforcement Team
Chapter 67 Joining the Enforcement Team
Li Ang nodded and followed the servant out of the Potions School area and into the Elemental School area, finally entering the Enforcement Team Hall, where the atmosphere was noticeably colder and more somber.
There weren't many people in the hall, and everyone seemed to be in a hurry with serious expressions. A servant led Li Yingang to the door of an office and knocked.
"Come in." The familiar, cold voice of Theronst came from inside.
Li Ang pushed open the door and entered, only to see Deacon Cyronster sitting behind a large desk, still with that stern and unsmiling expression, his sharp eyes now showing a hint of weariness.
Upon seeing Li Ang, he nodded slightly as a greeting, and then got straight to the point:
"Leon, welcome to the enforcement team. I've already been informed of your decision by Wizard Eve."
Without any further pleasantries, he took a package from under the table and pushed it in front of Li Ang:
"This is your equipment: a leather inner armor with basic protective magic arrays drawn on it, which can withstand physical and energy impacts to a certain extent, and this."
He picked up another silver badge. The badge featured crossed swords on the main body, with a wizard's tower pattern in the background.
"The law enforcement team badge serves as both identification and a simple communication device, and must be worn when on duty."
"Thank you, Deacon." Li Ang accepted the package and badge.
Celeste said calmly, "Although I was your introducer, you don't need to thank me. I just value your abilities and need you to serve the enforcement team."
"I understand," Li Ang replied solemnly.
"Hmm." Ceronst seemed satisfied with his attitude and gestured to the servant beside him.
"Take him to the Eighth Squad to report to Eric."
"Yes, sir." The servant bowed and accepted the order, then gestured for Li Ang to proceed.
Following the servants through the hall, we arrived at a corridor on one side and stopped in front of a door marked "Eighth Squad".
After bowing to Li Ang in farewell, the servant left first.
Li Ang took a deep breath, pinned the twin sword badge to his chest, placed it next to his mentor Eve's badge, and then knocked on the door.
"Come in." A slightly deep and tired male voice came from inside the door.
Li Ang pushed open the door and entered. The room was small and simply furnished.
In the center was a long table with five chairs next to it, and only a filing cabinet against the wall.
A man who looked to be around thirty years old, wearing a green wizard's robe, was sitting in a chair at the end of a table, writing something with his head down.
He looked up, revealing a slightly tired face. When he saw Li Ang at the door, he was initially puzzled, but then he noticed the badge on Li Ang's chest and his face immediately showed surprise.
"Leon? The Silver Cauldron winner from the Potions school?"
He stood up, walked around the table, and came over, his brows slightly furrowed.
"The new substitute that Steward Ceronst mentioned... is that you?"
"Yes, Captain Eric," Li Ang nodded in acknowledgment.
"By order of Deacon Seronst, I am reporting to the Eighth Squad."
Captain Eric looked Li Ang up and down, his surprise gradually replaced by a complex emotion, a mixture of incomprehension and worry.
He sighed, "I really didn't expect it to be you... I thought you would stay in the workshop, that's where you can use your talents. To be honest, I don't quite understand why you would risk your life to join the enforcement team. Alchemy and combat are two different things."
He rubbed his temples, his voice tinged with weariness:
"Our team just went through a raid on a dark witch stronghold, losing one comrade and two others who are injured and recovering. We urgently need to replenish our manpower, but I didn't expect that they would send a... well... a promising potion genius."
Li Ang did not rush to say anything, but calmly said:
"I will do my best to complete the mission and not hold the team back."
Captain Eric looked at him for a few seconds, seemingly sensing his determination in his calm demeanor, and finally nodded:
"Alright, since the steward arranged for you to come here, I believe there must be a reason. Our team is currently in a period of rest and recuperation, and we won't be assigned any high-risk missions. This is a good opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with the environment."
"As for the current mission..." Captain Eric walked to a roster on the wall.
"It's mainly routine patrols around the tower, with several teams taking turns. Tomorrow morning, from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m., it's our team's turn to patrol the third route in the east area. This might affect your classes..."
"It's okay, I can make up the lessons myself," Li Ang immediately said, adding that missing a class occasionally was perfectly acceptable compared to earning contribution points.
"That's good." Captain Eric nodded, then asked, "Do you have a flying broom? We need it for patrol. If not, the team can lend you a standard one temporarily."
"Yes, the Stanford Chamber of Commerce's [Swift 200]," Li Ang replied.
"[Swift 200]? Not bad, that's much better than the standard broom." Captain Eric's eyes flashed with surprise, then he clapped his hands. "Alright, that's the situation. Meet here before 4:55 tomorrow morning, don't be late."
"Yes, Captain."
After leaving the law enforcement team's hall, Li Ang did not immediately return to his dormitory. He went to the canteen to have dinner first, and then returned to his room, his gaze falling on the [Swift Wind 200] broom leaning against the wall.
With a slight thought, through the mental connection, he could feel a faint response from the broom; it seemed that if he wanted, it could fly to his side on its own in the next moment.
Li Ang waved his hand, and the broom immediately flew over and stopped beside him.
"To be on the safe side, I shouldn't reveal this ability in front of others in the future," he muttered to himself.
This summoning ability, which can ignore distance, sounds quite impressive, and he doesn't want to reveal this trump card unless absolutely necessary.
After all, the Stanford Chamber of Commerce never claimed that their brooms had this function.
Holding a broom, Li Ang walked out of the dormitory and went up to the third flight platform on the tenth floor.
It was already evening, and there weren't many people on the platform. Only a few apprentice wizards had just landed and put away their flying brooms.
The wind on the platform was much stronger than below, making the hem of his robe flutter loudly.
Li Ang subconsciously gripped the broom, took a deep breath, then stepped onto the broom and firmly planted his feet on the pedal.
Pressing a button on the broom handle causes the runes at the front of the broom to light up one by one, emitting a series of buzzing sounds.
He carefully controlled the power, and the broom floated steadily, about a foot off the ground.
Li Ang felt much more relaxed. It seemed that there would be no problem with taking off. Next was the actual flight. With a thought, he controlled the broom to fly forward.
With a "whoosh".
[Swift 200] responded instantly, shooting out like an arrow released from a bow. The strong push made his body involuntarily lean back, almost causing him to fall.
A strong gust of wind rushed towards my face, like countless cold knives scraping against it. My eyes were so hard from the wind that I could barely open them, and tears welled up instinctively.
