Journey to the West: Man in heaven, working nine to five

#1571 - My God, have you ever considered moving?

#1571 - My God, have you ever considered moving?

A hint of anger flashed in the depths of Buddha Tathagata's eyes. He wanted to extricate himself from this increasingly chaotic scene, leaving this mess for me?!

The hell I will! I quit too! You can be the present Buddha now!

Buddha Tathagata was well aware of the psychology behind Dipankara Buddha's resignation report.

Dipankara Buddha was certainly filled with guilt over the loss of the Avici Hell, but more than that, he likely foresaw the demons entering the Avici Hell and the chaos that would engulf the Three Realms.

If Dipankara Buddha continued as the Past Buddha, he would inevitably bear more responsibility. Therefore, he simply resigned to save face and extricate himself from the chaotic world.

Buddha Tathagata cursed inwardly, 'You think you're so clever! If I could run, I would have run a long time ago!'

Buddha Tathagata remained calm, merely saying indifferently:

"Ancient Buddha, your words are mistaken. The loss of the Avici Hell is due to the great terror within the abyss that restrained you. Your every move was hampered, making it understandable that you couldn't protect the Avici Hell in time."

"Moreover, from another perspective, if not for you attracting the attention of that great terror, if it had seen Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, it might have brought even greater disasters. Therefore, you need not blame yourself excessively."

Dipankara Buddha grew anxious and quickly said:

"Buddha Tathagata, your words are mistaken. This old monk bears a heavy responsibility, and I cannot shirk my responsibility for the loss of the Avici Hell..."

However, Buddha Tathagata interrupted Dipankara Buddha's further attempts to resign, and said in a clear voice:

"I have already consulted the two Saints on this matter. The teacher's meaning is simple: since a great mistake has been made, one must be brave enough to bear the responsibility."

"Therefore, the teacher has specially ordered you, Ancient Buddha, to lead five hundred Future Buddhas, and cooperate with Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva to completely suppress the demons in the abyss, and never allow the demons to come out and harm the world!"

Dipankara Buddha was anxious. He wasn't allowed to resign?! And he was being sent to block the demons?!

Heaven knows what that great terror in the abyss would do. Even if that great terror wasn't there, the demons were powerful, and the demon king city lords of the many main cities were not easy to deal with.

This was a tough assignment! Dipankara Buddha only wanted to go home and chant scriptures to atone for his sins, but being held accountable for his sins was not pleasant.

However, Dipankara Buddha wanted to speak, but Buddha Tathagata didn't give him the chance.

"This is an order from the two teachers. If you have any objections, Ancient Buddha, you can go and argue with the teachers."

"Of course, the teachers are not asking you to risk your life. Ancient Buddha is the foundation of our Western Paradise, the supreme World-Honored One. Protecting yourself is the most important thing, just don't let the demons run too rampant."

"Or is it that Ancient Buddha does not want to take responsibility and only wants to go back to chanting scriptures and repenting?"

Buddha Tathagata added a few words, leaving Dipankara Buddha unable to respond for a moment.

As a dignified Past Buddha, he dared not show such rogue behavior in front of all the Buddhas.

Moreover, he was not a despicable person at heart, but he was genuinely worried about how to deal with the demons.

"This old monk respectfully obeys the Saints' decree." Dipankara Buddha finally put his palms together and retreated a few steps obediently, saying nothing more.

Buddha Tathagata glanced at Dipankara Buddha, turned back, and had to face the damned Journey to the West again!

This was what Buddha Tathagata was most worried about. He had originally planned to take advantage of the Six-Eared Macaque incident to replace the entire team.

But he didn't expect it to backfire, not only failing to replace the entire team, but also sacrificing half of the Western Paradise.

Wait, was it more than halfway done...?

Buddha Tathagata said to Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva:

"Avalokitesvara, do you remember how many tribulations Tang Sanzang and his party have experienced?"

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva stood up, her face extremely ugly:

"My Buddha, if I remember correctly, it should be the forty-sixth tribulation here with the Six-Eared Macaque."

"But the actual completion... um, does not exceed ten tribulations."

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva added in her heart, 'In reality, it is estimated that no more than seven or eight tribulations have been truly completed.'

The faces of all the Buddhas present instantly stiffened.

They should have completed forty-six tribulations, but in reality, they had completed less than ten?!

What had they been doing all these years!

Buddha Tathagata suddenly asked:

"Then how many tribulations have we in the Western Paradise experienced?"

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva looked embarrassed.

"It's probably that every tribulation we missed before has been repaid on us twice over."

Buddha Tathagata's face drooped down, almost crying.

Ah, so we have almost experienced eighty-one tribulations!

Was life this bitter?

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva tentatively asked:

"My Buddha, we have only experienced so few tribulations, but they are already approaching the Flaming Mountain... soon they will be at the foot of our Mount Ling... Will there be enough tribulations if this continues?"

Buddha Tathagata's face was ugly, "What do you want to say? Speak plainly."

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva coughed lightly and said bluntly:

"My Buddha, have you considered moving? As long as the Western Paradise is far enough away, they won't reach the Western Paradise so quickly! Then we will have enough time to arrange tribulations!"

Smart, so smart!

The Buddhas present were already applauding in their hearts, moved by Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva's wisdom.

Yes, in the blink of an eye, the Western Paradise, which has experienced so many tribulations, was finally reduced to the point of moving.

Wonderful, so wonderful!

The ninety-nine eighty-one tribulations had fallen on their heads!

Thinking back to those years, before the Journey to the West began, the Western Paradise was so prosperous and glorious that even the Heavenly Court dared not make a sound.

But after only a few years of the Journey to the West, their Western Paradise had been reduced to the point of having to move and run away.

So, this was the so-called Journey to the West.

The expressions of the Buddhas present were indescribably wonderful.

And Buddha Tathagata's expression was even more indescribably sad and melancholy.

Heaven knows what Buddha Tathagata had experienced in these years. Until Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva proposed the idea of moving the Western Paradise, Buddha Tathagata felt like he was experiencing the dying man's final memories...

Ah, I don't want to be the Buddha anymore!

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva didn't know how much psychological damage her straightforward and wise suggestion had caused to the Buddhas present, but seeing that all the Buddhas present had fallen into extreme melancholy and sadness, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva obediently closed her mouth.

But fearing that everyone would really give up, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva added another sentence,

"Actually, moving is not a bad thing. A moving person lives, a moving tree dies. Change the environment, change the mood."

Buddha Tathagata sighed deeply,

"Well said, don't say it again next time, let me be quiet..."
